Every step is a person, by hand, in the TikTok app. Nothing is automated, no password is held and nothing is performed on anyone's behalf. Where a step involves time away, that time is measured on the server from the moment they leave, never from a countdown on the page.

What a save session looks like
A save is only ever offered on a video you have already watched through the watch exchange. The matching query hides every save for a video you have not watched, and the recording step refuses one outright, so a replayed request cannot get round the query.
The flow is three steps: open the video in TikTok, watch it and tap the bookmark to add it to your Favourites, then come back and confirm that you saved it. The time away is measured from the server, as it is for a watch.
Ordering works as it does for every post-based exchange: pick a video, then either start engaging in earn mode so your queue grows as you go, or place the order from points you hold. Saves are the cheapest delivery on the board at 0.5×, so one point buys more saves than any other action.
The pairing rule
This is the one structural rule on the TikTok board that has no Instagram equivalent. On the Instagram side a save stands alone. Here it cannot.
A save is a strong signal precisely because real people rarely leave one without watching first. A video that collects saves from accounts with no watch time behind them is describing an arrangement rather than an audience, and it is a distinctive enough shape to be worth designing against rather than rate-limiting around.
So the save is offered immediately after a watch on the same video, inside the same session. It is the pairing that makes it plausible, not the volume.
There is a subtlety worth stating because it shaped the code: the session buffer is built once at the start, so a save can only become eligible for a video watched in some earlier session. Offering it straight after the watch is what actually makes the pair, rather than merely allowing one.
Why the cheapest action still has a cap
A save costs the person performing it almost nothing — one tap, on something they were already watching — so it is priced at 0.5×, meaning one point buys more saves than any other action.
Cheap to perform is not the same as safe in volume. Saves carry a daily cap of 25, one of only two exchanges with a limit of its own, and an action-mix ceiling of 25% of a video's views.
The mix ceiling is the more interesting of the two. Save rate is a ratio a platform can compute trivially and a creator cannot fake gracefully — a video saved by a quarter of the people who saw it is not describing normal behaviour.
