Give to get: who is served first, and why every exchange is always open

  3. 03Give back to the creators who engaged with you

Step 1 · In PodSwap

Order and give whenever it suits you

Every launched exchange takes orders and serves engagement at any hour. Choose a post, spend points from that exchange’s own balance, and give to other creators when you have time. Nothing waits for a room to fill or a time to come round.

Step 2 · In PodSwap

Give, and your own orders move up

What you give decides where your own orders stand. Creators who have given more than they received recently are served before those who are square, and creators who are not giving are served after both. A new post from a creator who has been giving goes to the front for its first hours.

Step 3 · In PodSwap

Give back to the creators who engaged with you

You get a short note naming the creators who engaged with your posts. One tap starts a PowerSwap session that serves the creators you owe first. If you switch on Autopilot, each point you earn is spent on your newest Instagram post.

See how you earn points

On the free plan, 7 completed actions earn one point in a standard session. PowerSwap takes 6 actions per point. Each exchange keeps a separate balance.

What to expect

The serving order decides who is served first; it does not promise how many engagements arrive or when. That depends on how many creators are giving at the time. The This week card on your dashboard shows what came back to you and who is waiting for you to give back.

Rules and worked examples

Every exchange is always open

Every exchange is open around the clock. Order engagement for your posts and give to other creators whenever it suits you; nothing waits for a room to fill or a time to come round. What you give goes first to the creators who are giving, so the more you take part, the sooner your own orders are filled.

Exchanges used to open as Live Rooms, only once enough creators were ready at the same time. Rooms did not fill often enough, so for much of the day the door was shut on everyone, and they were retired. Nothing on PodSwap now waits on a headcount, a seat or an opening time.

Who is served first

Every exchange serves waiting orders in the same order, highest band first. Where you stand is worked out from what you gave and received over the last 14 days, so it moves as you take part.

Fresh posts. A post published in the last 2 hours by a creator who gave in the last 7 days.

New members. The welcome order every new member gets, while they are still around.

Owed the most. Creators who have given 20 or more engagements more than they received in the last 14 days.

Owed. Given 5 to 19 more than received.

Owed a little. Given 1 to 4 more than received.

Square. Giving, and received at least as much back.

Not giving. Around, but has not given in the last 14 days.

Away. Not seen for 30 days or more. Their orders stay open and are served when there is spare engagement, and they move back the moment they return.

Within a band the matching engine decides: follower bracket first, then niche, then the oldest order. Orders from PodSwap's own accounts are served only when no member's order is left.

The failure this fixes

An exchange that serves orders without regard to who is giving lets the most generous members end up receiving nothing, and in PodSwap's earlier always-open design a large majority of people who gave received none and never came back. An exchange where you can donate but not receive is not an exchange.

Live Rooms tried to fix that with a headcount and a free grant when a room opened. Rooms did not fill, so they were retired. Give-to-get ordering is how the exchange now makes sure givers get back: what members give goes first to the members who give.

Being told who engaged with you, and giving back

When creators engage with your posts you get a short note naming them, in the app and by push, at most once every 4 hours and never between 22:00 and 08:00 in your own local time. One tap starts a session that serves the creators you owe first, so you can return the favour. It has its own switch in your notification settings.

The give-back session runs in PowerSwap. Your dashboard also carries a This week card: what came back to you, and who is waiting for you to give back.

Autopilot

Autopilot is off until you switch it on. With it on, every point you earn is spent on your newest post straight away, topping up an order that is already running rather than opening a second one. Comments use your own comment sets, so an account without one keeps its comment points. It works on Instagram today.

Fresh posts

A new post goes to the front of every exchange for its first 2 hours, provided its creator gave in the last 7 days.

The condition is giving, not posting. Giving in the days before you post is what earns a new post that place, and posting more often earns nothing on its own.

Welcome back

Members not seen for 30 days or more are served after everyone present. Their orders are not cancelled: they stay open and are served when there is spare engagement.

Coming back after that long brings a welcome-back note, and your open orders go back into line straight away.

Questions

A few things worth knowing

What happened to Live Rooms?

They were retired. A room opened only when enough creators were ready at the same time, and rooms did not fill often enough to be worth the wait. Every exchange is now open around the clock, and the serving order is what makes sure people who give get engagement back.

Can I get started for free?

Yes. Joining PodSwap and the core exchanges are free, with no card required. Some tools need a connected account, and usage allowances and advanced-access differences apply. Check the free plan for the details.

Does PodSwap perform engagement for me?

No. Every exchange action is performed by a person, by hand. Writing tools help you prepare content; you decide what to publish.

What should I know before using this feature?

The serving order decides who is served first; it does not promise how many engagements arrive or when. That depends on how many creators are giving at the time. The This week card on your dashboard shows what came back to you and who is waiting for you to give back.
