How to check your TikTok account status

TikTok has one authoritative source: the account status page inside the app, which reports strikes and account-level restrictions directly. It is the first thing to check and it will not answer every question — three of the five states that reduce your reach do not appear on it at all.

Check the source of truth first

The account status page lives in your account settings, under the safety and privacy area. It reports whether your account carries strikes, whether any feature is restricted, and whether any restriction is currently running.

It comes from TikTok. Everything else on this subject, including anything a third party can compute, is inference.

Then check your videos individually

Account status is account-level. A per-video "not eligible for recommendation" label does not appear there — it appears on the video. Work through your recent posts and look at each one's panel.

This is the gap most people fall into: a clean account status page plus several quietly labelled videos looks exactly like "nothing is wrong" until you check the posts one by one.

What no page will tell you

A maturity rating that gated your content away from younger viewers is not reported anywhere. No violation, no strike, no notification.

A platform-wide decline in views per post is not reported anywhere either, and it affects nearly everyone.

Content that simply did not hold attention is not reported as anything, because it is not enforcement.

Between them, these three account for most reach drops, and none of them appears on any status page.

The check you can run yourself in two minutes

Take your last five videos that are at least 72 hours old. For each, work out likes plus comments plus shares plus saves, divided by views. Take the middle value.

Do the same for five videos from one to three months ago.

If the recent figure is at or above the older one while views are well down, distribution was cut. If it fell alongside views, the content underperformed and the system responded to that.

Use the middle value rather than the average, and never mix videos of wildly different ages. A video from yesterday is still being tested and will distort everything.

Common questions

Do third-party shadowban checkers work?

They compute an inference from public numbers. The good ones say so. Any tool that reports a verdict rather than a probability is claiming access to something TikTok does not expose to anyone.

Does logging out and back in reset anything?

No. Neither does reinstalling the app, changing your username, or switching to a business account. These circulate as fixes because reach recovers on its own and whatever someone tried last gets the credit.

Should I contact support?

Support can act on a specific appealable decision. There is no support action for "my views are down", because that is not a state TikTok tracks about your account.
