TikTok
Watch time and completion rate
Yes — more than anything else you can read in analytics. TikTok's own published example of a strong signal is a viewer finishing a longer video from beginning to end. Completion rate is the share of viewers who did; average watch time is how long everyone else stayed. Both are in the analytics for each video, and both are things the next upload can change.

What the numbers mean
Average watch time is the mean number of seconds a viewer stayed. Watched full video is the share who reached the end. The retention graph under them shows where in the video people left, second by second, and it is the most useful thing in the analytics because it names the moment rather than the average.
Read them together. A video with a short average watch time and a high completion share has an audience that splits into people who leave instantly and people who stay to the end — a hook problem for half of them, not a content problem. A video where retention slides steadily has content that runs out of reasons to keep watching.
All three are per video, in the analytics for that post. TikTok Studio shows the same numbers on a larger screen.
Why the first two seconds decide most of it
On a feed where the next video is one swipe away, the decision to stay is made almost immediately. Most of the drop on a typical retention graph happens before the third second, and everything after that is decided by a far smaller number of people.
That is why "make better content" is usually the wrong diagnosis for a poor completion rate. The content may be fine; the opening did not make anyone stay for it. The retention graph tells you which of the two you are looking at.
It also explains why a video from an unfamiliar creator has such a narrow chance. TikTok deliberately shows viewers things outside their expressed interests, and a viewer who leaves in two seconds has closed that window for everyone.
Rewatches and loops
A video watched twice counts twice, which is why very short videos routinely show completion above one hundred percent and why a loop that hides its own seam is a real technique rather than a trick.
A rewatch is also a much stronger statement than a first watch. Nobody watches something twice by accident, and the second viewing costs the viewer as much as the first did.
This is the reason the watch exchange prices rewatch tiers separately and publishes the multiplier for each, rather than charging the same for one viewing and three.
What a watch from a matched creator is worth
One full view from a plausible viewer of that video — a creator in your follower bracket and your subject, who opened it in the TikTok app and stayed. The dwell gate is 95% of the video's own length, measured from the moment they left PodSwap to the moment they came back, so a nine-second clip and a ninety-second one are not the same ask.
What it cannot do is become your audience. Matched delivery is capped at 30% of the reach a video earned on its own, so a video nobody found receives close to nothing. And what a full view does downstream is between your video and the recommendation system, which is why no page here promises anything past the view itself.
The watch exchange is built, tested and has not shipped: members vote on which of the three held exchanges opens next. The comment exchange is open today, and a comment arrives from someone who watched the video to write it.
Common questions
What is a good completion rate on TikTok?
There is no published target, and any figure you see quoted is one creator's account generalised. Compare your own videos against each other, and compare like with like: a seven-second clip and a two-minute explainer cannot be judged on the same completion share.
Do longer videos get more reach?
Not for being longer. A longer video that people finish is a stronger signal because finishing it cost more; a longer video people abandon is a weaker signal than a short one they finished. Length raises the ceiling and the floor at the same time.
Is the TikTok watch exchange open?
No. It is written and tested and held for a member vote, along with Saves and Deep Dive. The comment exchange has shipped and is open to any verified TikTok account.
Does a watch from a matched creator count as a real view?
It is a real person watching the video to the end in the TikTok app, which is what a view is. Whether attention that arrived through a link is weighed the way attention from the feed is weighed is not published, and no service can tell you it is.
