TikTok
Not eligible for recommendation
This is the per-video form of For You feed ineligibility, and the only one of these states TikTok actively tells you about. The label appears on the video itself, carries a reason, and carries an appeal button. It applies to that video alone.

Where the label appears
It surfaces on the video — in the analytics or privacy panel for that post, and usually as a notification when it is applied. If you have a notification about a video, opening it from there is the shortest route to the appeal control.
The label is per-video. Seeing it on one post does not mean anything has been applied to your account.
What the reason field is worth
The reason is a category, not an explanation of which frame or which word triggered it. It narrows the search considerably and it will not point at a specific second of the video.
Read it against the whole post rather than the footage alone. Caption text, on-screen text, hashtags and the sound are all part of what gets classified, and the trigger is frequently in one of those rather than in what you filmed.
What appealing does
An appeal sends the video for another review. If it succeeds the label is removed and the video becomes eligible for recommendation again — though a video that has already sat unrecommended for several days is unlikely to recover the reach it would have had, because the window in which TikTok tests new content is measured in hours.
Appeal anyway. The value is less about this video and more about the pattern: repeated labels correlate with reduced distribution across the account, and an overturned label is one fewer in that pattern.
What repairs the account afterwards
There is no published reset and no action that clears a history. What creators consistently report working is unremarkable: a run of original uploads at a normal cadence, with no further flags.
Two things reliably make it worse. Re-uploading the flagged video usually earns the same label plus a duplicate-content problem. Posting far more often than usual is itself an anomaly, and a cadence spike alongside a reach drop is a worse-looking combination than either alone.
Common questions
How long does the label last?
It applies to the video permanently unless an appeal overturns it. It is not a timed penalty on your account.
Should I delete the video instead of appealing?
Deleting removes your ability to appeal and does not remove whatever record exists of the flag. Appeal first.
Can I get the label on a video with no violation?
Yes. The eligibility standards are broader than the rules about what is permitted, so content that breaks nothing can still be judged unsuitable to recommend broadly.
