Profile views, and why they do not convert
A profile visit is the closest thing TikTok has to a viewer asking "is there more of this?". They arrive from one video that worked, look at the grid, and watch one or two more. Whether they follow depends almost entirely on whether those next videos deliver the same thing — which is why a profile with one hit and twenty unrelated videos converts nobody, and why PodSwap's profile-level exchange asks a visitor for three videos rather than one.

Where profile views come from
Almost always from one video. Somebody watched it to the end, wanted more, and tapped the name. The analytics show profile views over time, and a spike in them nearly always lines up with a video that did well — which is why the traffic-source breakdown for a video shows "personal profile" rising when a different video is the one doing the work.
This makes profile views a lagging measure of one thing: how many people a video convinced to look for more. It is a compliment to the video and a test of the profile.
What a visitor actually sees
The bio, the pinned videos, and the first row or two of the grid — cover images and view counts. They will watch at most one or two more videos before deciding, and they will pick from what is visible without scrolling.
What they are looking for is a promise about the next video. A follow is a bet that the account will keep producing the thing that brought them, and the grid either makes that bet look safe or does not.
The most common failure is a profile that does not look like the video that sent people to it. A hit that is unrepresentative of the account converts poorly no matter how good it was, because the visitor cannot find a second one.
Why views without follows is not a problem to fix on the video
If people are visiting, the video did its job. The gap between visits and follows is decided on the profile: consistency of subject, a first row that represents the account, pinned videos that show the range, and a bio that says in one line what the next video will be about.
It is also worth being clear-eyed about what a follow is worth on TikTok. TikTok states that follower count is not a direct factor in recommendation, and a follower who never watches is a permanent edge that depresses your Following-feed performance and skews what the system believes your audience is. A visitor who watched three videos and did not follow has done more for the account than a follower who never watches.

Can I see who viewed my TikTok profile?
TikTok offers a profile-view history that shows you who visited, but only when both you and the visitor have the feature switched on. With it off, you see a count and nothing else.
Why do I get profile views from a video that did badly?
Because the people who did watch it to the end were unusually interested. Low views with a high rate of profile visits is one of the better signs a video can show — the wrong audience saw it, and the right slice of them went looking for more.
